Maybe Jetes can pitch AND play shortstop, eh Manky?

Go ahead and call me crazy, but I think in a few weeks when the MVP votes are announced Jeter will surprise quite a few of you. I don't think he will win, but a strong top 10 finish is what I expect.

Looking back on it, 2011 was a powerful affirmation that Jeter's not done yet, not even close. He pretty much exceeded everyone's highest expectations and I think he'll be even better in 2012. He's only scratched the surface of his extra-base hit potential.

Go ahead and call you crazy? Have you not read the previous 37 pages of this thread?

Gotta give you credit. This one is funny even for you. Jeter slugged under .400 for the second time in three seasons and he's "scratching the surface of his extra-base hit potential?"

Got bored and figured you'd throw out something incredibly stupid to see if you could get a response?

I look forward to your rant about how the delusional and hateful media couldn't see through their anti-Jeter bias when he doesn't sniff the top 10 in a couple of weeks.

He has it in him. I think he's gotten used to being a 'tablesetter' and that's OK because he's made a hall of fame career out of getting 200 hits and 70+ walks a season. What Cashman needs to do is say "Jetes, we can't count on ARod and Tex to provide all the power anymore. We need you to hit more home runs." And Jetes will figure out a way to do it.

That's not at all what I had in mind.

Silly us thinking you might actually be realistic for once. Because that is the only way Jeter would suddenly start mashing at this point. What power he had is fading fast.

I hope you've noticed that scoring has dropped dramatically in the past couple years (another year or two and we'll be back to 1968 levels). In that context, Jeter has lost zero power. Five homers is probably equal to 15-20 in 2004.
