Agreed.Brady ran a 5.2. Was just making an observation on Mariota's metrics today not on his ability as a QB.

Yeah, he'll spend his career being compared the guys who put up similar numbers, RG3, Tyrod Taylor and Colin Kaepernick.

Mariota is getting criticized not for himself, but because of the offense he ran. That's not right. He certainly can't be faulted for accuracy based on his passing stats at Oregon. I don't think him being faster or more agile that Winston is a point in his favor, but neither do I think it a a reason to discount his ability.

In some ways Oregon offense is more evolved than some NFL offenses

D-linemen are running faster 40s than Winston. Beasley, the dude from Clemson, just ran a 4.66. Believe that's the same number Clowney put up.

You know, when I was a little kid, I don't think I ever read a word about Johnny Unitas' 40 time. I'm not sure he was ever made to run one.

Gregory runs 4.64, Fowler 4.61. Not sure any of them can play at the next level, but these top prospects sure have these Combine drills down.

Study the test. Can you spend 4 years in college as a marginal player but excell in the combine drills

Gregory (235) and Beasley (245) are also two of the lightest DLs at the combine. (DGB was 2lbs heavier than Gregory, and he's a WR. He also ran a faster 40). My guess is both Gregory and Beasley end up as 3-4 OLBs.

Or else rush DE specialists like Jerry Hughs who ran a 4.69 at his combine. Dion Jordan ran a 4.6 but still has not panned out with The Dolphins

He was also cut by the Steelers.

Maybe scouting then wasn't t so great after all.
