Mark Whicker, what were you thinking?

    Ms Girl,

I like to think I'm mocking bad taste rather than posting in it.

    BTW Where's Khartoum?

I think I was pretty clear, drip. You said the guy knew he screwed up. I asked how you knew that?
Now you're backtracking to you think the guy realizes he made a mistake.

If you were pretty clear, I wouldn't have made the statement I made. I'm not back tracking on what I said. Perhaps I should have said I think the guy screwed up. I believe I made myself pretty clear in my last post.
I didn't know this was a court room and that opinions had to be defended, especially one that basically said its time to move on.

It was a "tribute" to Whicker's "congratulations, Jaycee, you left the yard" kicker. Sorry. Sometimes I suck. :D

Who's going to explain the fact that there was a Barbaro?

There are some pieces of gold early in this read:

    2nd graf ...

    5th graf ...

Like an Oklahoma chicken thief? I've never heard that expression, but it's pretty funny.

Anyhoo, I would've called Mark to tell him I was spiking the column so that I could send it to a higher-up, and then let the chips fall where they may in the aftermath (even if it pissed Mark off).

Time was not of the essence with this piece, so it could've run the next day had the higher-ups decided it was kosher (though they probably would've put the kibosh on it).

It's easier to fill a hole with some kind of wire story or national column than to fast-track something this controversial through the mixer.

I would have annexed the Sudetenland.

I would have never started a land war in Asia.

I would've told Servite to beat Mater Dei for once. Although, Servite beat my alma mater in a playoff game in 1987. Damn Servite.

I still wish we could have gotten a better list of train-wreck columns, and I'm not talking about stuff that's poorly written, but stuff that just has people saying, WTF were they thinking?
