Marriott Points Conundrum

    I'm a nobody, and I had 120,000 in the spring. A free vacation this summer knocked me down to 55k. Marriott points are wonderful, wonderful things.

    One of my friends laughed at me for being a "stereotypical beat writer" in furiously collecting Marriott points. He shut up after two things happened: I enjoyed two nights in the Marriott Marquis in Times Square a few months ago, and he has since become a beat writer ... with a rewards account.
