Dan Rather's questions are wonderful; wish he was running for president.

Rabbi Lerner's words at the Ali service ring true for me,

    "
And tell her that the way to achieve homeland security for all of us is for the U.S. to become known not as the most militarily powerful, which we’ve been for the past 70 years, but the most generous and caring country in the world – starting with a global Marshall Plan. Be Muhammad Ali – fight for your highest vision, not for what others tell you is realistic."

I don't mean this as an insult, but I don't think you have a firm grasp of what that means.

I don't take it as an insult. Technically, what I'm arguing for is the opposite. Consider it poetic license.

I'll do so only if I have strict assurances that your license was lawfully obtained ...

It wouldn't eliminate all guns, stop drinking the NRA Kool-Aid. If the AR-15 is a regular hunting rifle with a different stock and grip then why is it considered military grade and included in most proposed assault weapons bans? It has a higher magazine capacity than a regular hunting rifle and more rounds can be expelled with a single pull of the trigger than with a regular hunting rifle. A .380 by definition with a single bullet has more power than a single bullet from an AR-15, but the AR-15's higher capacity and rapid fire capabilities make it more of a danger.
You mean that ALL guns, unmodified, meet the criteria described here of an assault weapon?
Federal Assault Weapons Ban - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A ban on certain types of weapons would in theory make it harder for him to acquire a gun that meets the above definition of an assault weapon.
If Senate Republicans had some balls and didn't cowtow to the NRA they would have passed the proposed legislation that would make it illegal for anyone on a terror watch list or no fly list to buy a weapon. So instead of making it harder for the terrorists to acquire their weapons they opted not to put a ban in place, allowing suspected terrorists to legally buy guns.

Being able to board an airplane without walking through a metal detector and/or body scanner.
Being able to board an airplane without having our luggage x-rayed.
Being able to board an airplane without waiting in an hour-long security line.
The list goes on and on ...

Not true. ARs are semi-auto, which means one trigger pull equals one bullet leaving the chamber.

I can't buy more than two boxes of Claritin per month, and need to show ID to even do that.

Congress already attempted to do that and failed in December 2015 - Gun bans for terrorist watch list rejected in Senate as part of Obamacare repeal bill

Possessing firearms is akin to voting? If you need to register to vote, then you need to register your firearm when you purchase it. In some states you need to show state-issued photo ID to prove your identity in order to vote, then let's have the same requirement for all firearm purchases (thus eliminating internet sales).

I'm a Dem and I'm worried about the election. She's not going to win in a landslide.

You're worrying needlessly, wimpy liberal. It's a lock.
