Great day in Microville. Nice walk on campus this AM, came home and got the Christmas lights up, had a super TG dinner, and friends of my son took him and several others up to their parent's house in Littleton for an "orphans" TG dinner.

Then the Bills win, highlighted by a great feature on Josh Allen and the work he does for the local children's hospital in Buffalo, and how the fans raised more than $1.4 million to fund a pediatric wing in his grandmother's honors.

Seriously, it's not hard for people to be nice and do good things. Many are, and do. Happy turkey day from the Left Coast!

 

My father died of a heart attack Memorial Day weekend, 1982.

A man my mom had been dating a year was working construction and killed Memorial Day weekend, 1987.

My stepfather died of liver failure Memorial Day weekend, 2003.

As far as I’m concerned, we all get a holiday we don’t have to like for whatever reason.

 

Not the Thanksgiving we had hoped or planned for, but we made the best of it. My son, who got his first vaccine shot on the 16th, tested positive for COVID on Monday.

A kid in his class got it and was in school Friday, and three others subsequently got it and tested positive by Monday. He’s been fine. Really nothing more than the symptoms of a mild cold, for which we are extremely grateful.

We had planned to host dinner for 14 and, since we had already bought the food before his positive test, we just cooked for everyone anyway and packed up to-go containers. Our parents, sisters, niece and nephews came for a visit in the yard, we gave them their food and then ate dinner together as a family of four.

My son was/is mostly upset about “ruining” Thanksgiving. That’s been the hardest part. We’ve assured him as best we can that he didn’t ruin the day, but there’s no real around his own and observation of what the day is usually like compared to today. It’s been pretty heartbreaking, while conversely feeling very lucky that it wasn’t that bad.

 

I'm just now due for a booster but will definitely be waiting for a full day off. The first Moderna wasn't great, but the second one put me on my ass for a day.

 

People don't know the original shooting script was called Planes, Trains, Buses, Ski Trams, Paddlewheelers, Chariots, Bicycles, Blimps, Helicopters, Submarines and Automobiles?

 

I never post on these, but the new thing about this Thanksgiving is my daughter coming home from college. 'Nuff said.
