Maybe Bush not quite as "faith-based" as he would have us think?

Well, the Christian loonies sure took a run at it in Kansas. You know, that pesky theory of evolution and all. I can go on if you want. And you're at it again. "Well, look at the Muslims....." It's the religious riff on "Clinton got a blow job"

And because I think those "Christians" do NOT represent the relgion that I grew up with doesn't make me cynical. I just wish they'd stop trying to speak for the rest of us. Because as far as I'm concerned, they don't represent Christianity, however much they consider themseslves the true believers.

Anyone killed in Kansas? Beheaded? Forced at knifepoint to convert? Bombed? Blown up? Stoned? Beaten? Hijacked on a plane and flown into a building?

    Didn't think so.

Nope but lots of 'em killed in Ireland.

You said some Christians weren't trying to force their religion on anybody which is out and out crap. Read your newspapers.

And your constant response with "Well, look at Islam....." is the same bullshit that someone's already called you on.

The hateful rantings of Jerry Falwell and his doublespeaking ilk apparently don't count as a small percentage of Christian philosophy as it is practiced today, but they'd be among the first to set up just such a Taliban-style theocracy.

Okay, post the links from the newspapers with just one story ... just one ... illustrating your point. And please don't give me some obscure crap about one mother in the PTA in Wichita who wants to ban Lord of the Flies. Not the same thing. Not even close. You've got one religion killing thousands at a time. Another one just gets a little preachy sometimes.
And I wasn't the one saying, "well, look at Islam." I was pointing out the atrocities of Muslim extremists, and you guys jump in with "well, look at abortion doctors ... Falwell ... Robertson, etc."

Hondo, do you just sit in your little pocket of the deep south and stay out of touch with everything in the world--well, other than all the Muslims who are going to kill you.

The Kansas evolution story was headline news for months.

If you don't think there's a lunatic fringe of Christianity out there trying to foist their belief system down our throats, you're not paying attention.

And if you aren't aware of murders and atrocities being made in the name of Christianity over the years, you aren't paying to that either

I don't have Lexis/Nexis, but when was the last time an abortion clinic was bombed? Or when was the last time an ob/gyn was picked off with a sniper rifle by a fundamentalist Christian? I know those things have all happened and fairly recently.
Muslims, Sikhs and etc., are regularly beaten as a result of their faith in both major and minor American cities.
The Centennial Park bombing at the '96 Games was the work of a religious fundamentalist, who also blew up abortion clinics. OKC was the work of religious fundamentalists.
All Americans attacking other Americans on American soil.
So yes it does happen, and yes it has happened recently.

Are you as tolerant of others as you would like them to be of you? I'm not accusing, just asking. How would you or your church members react to the same sentence if "religious beliefs" was changed to "gay lifestyle"?

I'll repeat the questions, since you failed to get it the first time: Anyone killed in Kansas as the result of religious extremism?

    Simple question, really.

And I'll ask you a simple question, Hondo. What if I don't WANT you to give me your five-cent sell on Christianity? If I don't and you do it anyway, I could claim you're shoving your Christianity down my throat.

You come from the same school of logic that Chris L graduated from. When you lose the original argument, change the paramaters of the argument and pretend it's the same one.

You asked for examples of Christians trying to "force" their beliefs on anyone and I provided an example: the Intelligent Design idiots in Kansas. And there's lots more from where that came.

The discussion was never about "beheadings" in Kansas. We were talking about a group of Loony Tunes Christians trying to shove their Sunday School form of Christianity down the rest of the population's throats.

    Pretty simple, really.

Fine, I won't. And I promise I won't cut your throat if you don't convert.

Now there are some people in other parts of the world who wouldn't make that promise, but I will.
