Other factors in people's analysis of this fight that no one wants to mention: race and nationality, and the youngins preferring MMA over boxing. Plus Floyd is a raging dick with domestic abuse problems, so plenty would like to see him get his ass kicked. Gone be a show

Yeah, but Mayweather doesn't have the mileage on him that most others do at that age. Precisely because of his style and schedule.

I see him doing to McGregor exactly what he did to Gatti. The only question is whether McGregor can take it for as long as Gatti did before it gets stopped.

I agree. I should have put percentages next to mine.

    Mayweather, unanimous decision: 88 percent.

    McGregor, unanimous decision: 0.00000001 percent.

If you wish upon a star, it might just happen. Problem is, people have been hoping for this for more than a decade. Still hasn't happened.

Remember talking about it with a buddy when it was first mentioned they could fight. Mayweather would never agree to anything other than a boxing match, As explosive as McGregor is in UFC, boxing is way different. Can anyone see McGregor being a more potent puncher in the boxing ring than Canelo? Canelo also is naturally bigger and stronger than McGregor.

I'd be willing to bet this fight goes long than most people expect. Here and elsewhere, people are saying Conor is getting dropped quick and easy, despite that not being something Mayweather does (unless he is getting a cheap shot in on Victor Ortiz). Because of Mayweather's age and extended time out of the ring, I bet it takes him a round or two to find his rhythm again. Maybe add another round because McGregor is going to bring an abnormal style that will require adjustments. Like others have said, Mayweather isn't going to throw himself head first into a brawl. He's an asshole, but he's smarter than that.

But if anyone here has watched McGregor's fights against Nate Diaz, they know that he gasses quick after a couple of rounds when his opponent just won't go away. After 10 minutes he is breathing heavy and starts to fade. It is a miracle he made it through Round 5 in their second fight.

My prediction: Conor looks decent early but Mayweather keeps him chasing, peppering him with shots throughout. Conor gasses out and doesn't answer the bell for the seventh or eighth round.

Conor does get gassed, but I think one important factor here: Boxing's rounds are three minutes long, and UFC's are five minutes long. That's a huge difference. Also grappling is more tiring than boxing, I find, anyway. I think so long as Conor isn't tempted to be too heavy, he'll be fine on lungs. Hence, the fight going the distance.

Yeah that's a good point about the 3-minute vs. 5-minute rounds. But I still think Conor's stamina could be an issue, perhaps even a fight-ending one. He is going spend more time swinging and missing than he normally does in an MMA fight. That saps the energy and will out of a fighter, especially someone like McGregor who is used to guys crumpling beneath his left hand. And in the two fights against Diaz where he looked gassed, he didn't do much grappling, so I don't think that is as much of a factor. The fights stayed on the feet and at distance for the most part, except for the first one where McGregor shot for a panic takedown and got submitted.

I agree that the most likely outcome is a unanimous decision for Mayweather. McGregor won't be able to keep pace with a pro boxer, but Mayweather will be cautious enough to make it a wholly boring affair after a few rounds. Basically, your standard Mayweather fight.

But for the sake of keeping it interesting, I'm going to predict McGregor pulls a Liston and doesn't answer the bell for the seventh. And if that happens, you can be damn sure I'll be copy/pasting this post a few dozen times around here.

This is key, IMO. Not all cardio is the same. We talk about him getting gassed in fights for which he specifically trained for years. I'm not sure the short time McGregor has to prepare for a standard boxing match is going to help him deal with the differences in conditioning. Especially against a guy like Mayweather for whom that specific conditioning is second nature. Throwing punches repeatedly over numerous rounds is fucking exhausting, even without all the extra energy it takes to avoid another human doing the same. Boxing is like breathing to Mayweather. It's going to be a chore for McGregor.

Can't we start a GoFundMe for Tyson to go kick Floyd's ass? He can probably use the scratch.

I think we can find someone better than a convicted rapist to hand out the much-needed ass whoopin' to the reviled domestic abuser.

My vote is for The Rock, now and in 2020.
