That team also lost Brian Westbrook, the team's biggest playmaker that season, in the final game of the regular season to a triceps injury.

To many Eagles fans he will be remembered for nutting up and throwing up in the Super Bowl. He always talked the good game but never seemed to do it in the clutch. His body of work overall is outstanding, no question there, but he could never win the big one. Just like Jim Kelly who had a brilliant career. Warren Moon. Fran Tarkenton. This list goes on and on.

Drip, the Eagles lost that Super Bowl by three points to one of the all-time great teams in NFL history. I fail to see how that should be held against ANY member of the Eagle team.

Good or bad, the point remains that only quarterbacks are judged by their team's performance in the playoffs. It's silly. He's just one player on a team.

You never hear "Man, that guy was a good left offensive tackle, but he isn't great because he never led his team to a Super Bowl title."

McNabb will be in Canton, there's no question.

Saying that Dan Marino or Jim Kelly shouldn't be considered among the elite at their position because they never won a ring is absurd.

That said, I don't think McNabb has ever been at the level of a Favre or a Manning, Brady, Brees or maybe even a Rivers. With McNabb in the regular season, there's a lot of very good and very little great.

There's also the puking in the huddle and not understanding NFL overtime that fairly or unfairly, will be mentioned all the time.

Michael, it was a good Patriots team but it was a beatable Patriots team. Ask most Eagles fans and they'll say they could've won that game if they had thrown the ball more and abandoned a non-existent running game. Reid did not do a good job of adjusting and McNabb's throwing up on the final drive. well, didn't do much.
He was an outstanding Eagle but he talked the good game more than delivering in the clutch. That loss to to Tampa Bay for the NFC title will always be a haunting memory too.

"Talked the good game?" If he wins a Super Bowl with Shanahan, he'll be every bit as holy as Elway.

True, but if he wins a Super Bowl with Shanahan, I'll eat my pork pie hat.

He hasn't won one yet. And even if he did, having covered both Elway and McNabb, I would pick Elway every time. He was simply a better quarterback, not because his teams won, but because he was better. Period.

I think we had this debate before last season, but where would you rank McNabb among all of the NFL starters right now?

If he cracks the top 10, it's barely. If you had to pick a NFC East QB to lead your team next year, I'll bet McNabb wouldn't be most people's first choice.

McNabb has never been anywhere close to being in the same class as Elway.
