But SOMEONE has to play QB. They can't just go without one.

    Cam Newton or Andrew Luck.

Yeah, but every game will be recorded as a sellout.

Newton I'd take in a heartbeat. Luck...not so much.

    Does that mean I'm RAYCESS?

It doesn't mean you're racist, but it does mean you don't know jack shit about what an NFL team needs in a quarterback. You can look at the way Luck plays right now and translate it to an NFL field -- the drops and footwork, secondary reads, and a 20-yard out that would give half the coaches in the league an erection just thinking about it.

And Newton has the ability to do in the NFL what Vick did last night.

And I really don't think there are any arms that are much stronger than Newton's.

Yeah, it has only taken Vick nine years to learn the mechanics needed to throw an accurate deep ball.

Arm strength isn't the issue. The spread offense and what it does or doesn't teach a quarterback is the issue.

Newton looks like he has decent footwork. He can read a secondary, I'm sure, based on his TD-INT numbers (21-6 with 68% completions). And I'm betting he can throw a 20-yard out.

    He's also 6-6, 250 with a 4.5 40 time.

    Advantage: Newton.

Not saying I wouldn't take Luck. Sure, I would. But gimme the choice, and I'm taking Newton.

Vick could always throw the deep ball.

Add Vick to DeSean Jackson, and that is a lethal combination.

Hoge was on M&M this morning and was almost jumping out of his chair talking about how deadly this combination is.

He said that when you rush Vick, your front seven have to stay in contain zones and be very aware of Vick cutting inside on speed rushing OLBers and DEs. With Jackson, he is such an awesome deep threat that both safeties play five yards deeper much like people do and did with Moss.

So Vick has a huge, huge free area to roam in.

Hoge said the Redskins played well, but they were just not physically able to compete with Jackson and Vick. That's scary. You never hear that about NFL teams. Never. You hear that about VMI trying to play Virginia Tech.

Why you would cite stats off a schedule that includes Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas State and Chattanooga is baffling. But, fine. Review the list of quarterbacks who "looked" like they had decent footwork and could read a secondary: Alex Smith, Vince Young, etc. It's a long and undistinguished list. I guess we will see what happens with Tebow, but for now the Broncos don't seem to want him to ever throw a pass.

There were a lot of QBs with better stats than Mak Sanchez. Yet he's the one who played in a pro-style offense and knew the mechanics. It wasn't just a guess that he could pick them up someday.

I would bet every NFL team has Luck in the top two on their draft boards. And I would bet the average on Newton is mid- first round.

    Watch Newton play.

At the Combine, he will blow people away.
