I destroyed my big toenail attempting to ski with - apparently - too small of a boot. Fucker hurt while I was skiing, but I'd had a few and I hadn't skied much before so I didn't know your foot wasn't supposed to feel like that.
Within a week it was all purple.
Three weeks later it fell off while I was in bed. I never felt a thing.
The original injury hurt much, much more than when the nail came off.

 

Damn, does anyone here have any toenails?

Yeah, it is weird. No pain, except maybe a little because of the little bit of skin that's attached at the bottom corner of each side.

But once they're off, it's good.

 

Do you remember how long it took for the nails to grow back?

 

Mine was already growing a new nail underneath the dead one. It took awhile for the old one to fall off and when it did the new one was about 50 percent grown in. I did have to be careful with it, because it hurt pretty easily, but after a couple of weeks it was all good.
