The Israeli approach has been disgusting, and it's telling that the GOP has been silent on criticizing the Biden administration on this.

But it should be possible to repatriate innocent Palestinian refugees to the supposedly-cleared North Gaza and Wadi areas, where most of them resided pre-war.

I'm suggesting Egypt won't be asked to take them.

It's not like the U.S. can't already cut off weapons to Israel if it feels it isn't abiding by internationational law.

What does this accomplish other than the leadership of a fractured coalition trying to tell the part of its coalition that isn't on board with supplying arms to Israel that they have conditions in place (that never required a 'look at me' letter in the first place, because they can cut off Israel with or without the letter)?

It's very public pressure instead of quiet room diplomacy. It's also at least to some degree a response to Dem voters who are pressing them on Gaza. It's saber rattling, but it is also a genuine warning. Not action, but pressure.

When diplomacy fails and is replaced by making the same demands publicly in the press, that's an escalation. The question is what is the Administration going to do if this mid-March deadline rolls around and Israel has not signed and is continuing as before.

Macron says out loud that French troops may wind up on the ground in support of Ukraine. The German Chancellor says nothing to refute this. If NATO troops have to go in because the U.S. has left UKR without supplies, we're going to wind up with our troops in there. If the Russians are shooting at NATO troops, we're obligated to step up.

The R's playing games are going to get us into a shooting war.

Now Putin's threatening nukes if any NATO troops get involved, and the dickheads in the House are still playing campaign games.
