If you get a chance, watch the first few seasons of Tehran on Apple TV. Riveting stuff and this latest copter accident would be easily be something in the story arc.

I'm always curious just how good the Israelis are, and how much people tend to mythologize them.Getting close enough to fuck with the helicopter that carries the Iranian president is extraordinary beyond what anyone else can do. And the question becomes, if you can get that close, are you really going to do something that leaves a chance that the helicopter doesn't go down? Like, if you have someone who can mess with the helicopter, wouldn't you make sure you blow the thing up?

I am fascinated by stuff like this. A week or two ago, a jew was killed in Alexandria, Egypt in what was called a suspected terrorist attack. It was the first time in decades that a jew was killed in Egypt, and the person who told me about it (an Egyptian) was kind of saying, "See the fanatics here killed someone just because they were Jewish."

But then I read some stories with more specifics, and it sounded so shadowy. The guy who was murdered owned an Egyptian company that exported frozen fruits and vegetables, and traveled to and from Egypt a lot and spent a lot of time in Alexandria. He had an office in Ukraine too, and ties to Russia. He was Israeli, but traveled on a Canadian passport. And then I read something that said there were rumors he was Mossad. And then it becomes, is there more here than was meeting the eye?

Didn’t the Israelis sabotage Iran’s nuclear facilities with a hack of their software remotely?

Obviously it’s a different game with military equipment and helicopters, but it world play into the conspiracy. But say Israel was responsible, causing it to crash and not blow up gives some deniability. Or they rigged it to malfunction and explode and it didn’t work?

In any case, I’m curious if Iran tries to pin it on Israel to justify escalation.

Damnit! Might be my first db. Although not a separate thread, so it might not qualify.

The question is if the bullets and rockets will fly, too.

A helicopter went down in bad weather in some of the ruggedest terrain on Earth. I never say never, but it's going to take a LOT more evidence than the none we have now that this was more man's hand than Allah's.

Yes, and, it's a good vehicle for an excuse even if it is hornswoggle.

Yup. Sounds like the Kobe crash situation. And my sister's family. Spatial disorientation.

Hard to tell what it sounds like. It went from a “hard landing” to a crash, to western diplomatic sources estimating that there is no way the president survived to one of Iran’s VPs telling the Iranian news agency they have been in contact with two people who were on the helicopter and that it wasn’t that severe.
