Sharing the goods with deskers does help alleviate some of the "I'm stuck on this desk and they're out getting steak and blowjobs at the bowl game" mentality.

To be fair, there was never any threat of a bowl game where I used to man the desk.

That's what I always did. I'd guess they got about 90-95 percent of the stuff I got. I gave most of it to the agate guys. Good people to have on your side. :D

I took a nap on my couch this afternoon nice and snug under a fleece blanket given to me the an NHRA logo on it. I slept just fine.

So to compromise, let's attend events and talk to the athletes, but skip on the free round of golf at the Masters? That's all I'm saying.

You must be short. I've never got a fleece blanket that was long enough to do the job.

If I am given the opportunity to play a round of golf on a course that hosts a major championship, I'm taking it.

Let's compromise on -- if my boss says it's OK.

The deskers here enjoyed a good share of that snack food from yesterday. So did a lot of our news guys. Think sports guys are bad? Our news guys smell free food miles away. I taught them well.

    Off topic perhaps but...
"Sharing the goods with deskers does help alleviate some of the "I'm stuck on this desk and they're out getting steak and blowjobs at the bowl game" mentality."

Female hockey fan actually offered one (not a steak) to a competing reporter if he would get a player's autograph for her. He turned down the offer, but the player's reaction was priceless. "You should have told me. I'd have given you an autograph."

Anyone who passes up a round of golf at Augusta National for any reason is clearly not thinking coherently. (And that's putting it much nicer I should).

In fact, if any of you are inclined to do so, please let me know and I will gladly make the short drive to fill in as your stand-in.

Kinda, 5-9. But this one is also a little larger than most. That's why I like it so well.

And it gets even better. When I checked today's office mail I had a 2011 personal planner from the NHRA that came in today. It's not a fancy, just thick paper cover, but still ... if you can't accept anything I guess that means I'll have to either spend a $1 to send back to them what's worth 50 cents or just not participate in the calender year 2011. I'll do a Rip Van Winkle until 2012. Someone please wake me. I'll be sleeping under my fleece blanket.

5-9 is short? I hate you all.
