Media gifts and where to draw the line

  1. I love that so many of my colleagues are smartasses, just like myself.
I don't necessarily like that many can't at least be helpful smartasses.

Here's your thread, Whiskey. 16 pages' worth. You'll find all the discussion you require.

If you can get a clear answer out of that thread, Mazel Tov. And even if you don't find the answer after reading the thread, you will get a pretty good taste of the madness if you decide to stick around.

If the contents are valued at more that you make in a week, keep it.

That would actually be El Paso and the John Hancock/Sun/Whatever Bowl is called now.

Whores were made available, or so I hear back in the day.

    Old-school newbie ... a veteran old-schooler would've traded the swag for a bottle of booze AND a PACK of cigs ... :)

Never understood the logic behind this. If you want to give me a free shirt, mouse pad, computer case, etc. with your logo on it, fine. If not, fine. I'm not going to do my job any differently because you did or did not give me anything, so please don't think you're scoring any brownie points. But if you wanna give something away, fine.

Might want to look into a media ethics class. Sure, you won't cover the event any differently, but the perception would be that you might if the bowl or whatever is giving you free goodies.
