Seger is criminally underrated. Little gems all over his stuff.

Who wants to break the news about uncle Joe
    You remember uncle Joe
He was the one afraid to cut the cake
Who wants to tell poor aunt Sarah
Joe's run off to Fire Lake

It blows my mind Seger has spent far more time singing "Night Moves" than he did before writing it. That's such a melancholy song to write at 30 or 31. Also, it has the best description ever for big tits. :D

She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own, sitting way up high
    Way up firm and high

My favorite Seger song (along with Still the Same)

    My memorable lyric contribution:
Socrates and Milhous Nixon both went the same way...through the kitchen

As I get older, this one hits me harder:

Ain’t it funny how the night moves
    With autumn closing in

Seger is not talking about September there, a fact of which I’ve become much more aware as I reach my mid-50s.

I love you more than bigfoot trucks
I love you more than shootin' ducks
I love you more than the pool hall
But not as much as football

I love you more than Richard Petty
I love you more than spaghetti
I love you more than meatballs
But not as much as football

I wasn't born for diggin' deep holes
I'm not made for pavin' long roads
I ain't cut out to climb high line poles
But I'm pretty good at drinkin' beer

Always liked this one from Jefferson Starship's "Find Your Way Back"

I know it's too late now
But I wish I could go back in time
    And start all over somehow
And get it right from the start

Warren Zevon has a slew of them:

    "Poor Poor Pitiful Me"

I'd lay my head on the railroad tracks
And wait for the Double "E"
But the railroad don't run no more
    Poor, poor pitiful me

    "Lawyers, Guns and Money"

Well, I went home with the waitress
    The way I always do

    "Excitable Boy"

He took little Suzie to the Junior Prom
    Excitable boy, they all said
And he raped her and killed her, then he took her home

That's what I mean...he wrote that at 30!!! And he was 49 (my age gulp) when that song got hot again with his greatest hits release in 1994 (complete w/a great video starring Matt LeBlanc and Daphne Zuniga!).

    I'm a-going back to Colorado
The place where I come from
If I'd knowed how bad you'd treat me
Babe, I never would have come

The song works just as well for me when I swap in the lyrics “backseat of my ‘80 Chevy” and “started hummin’ a song from nineteen eighty-two … ”
