The beauty of suspenders with suits ( buttons sewn into pants) is that you can gain or lose 20 lbs and your suit pants will still "hang" properly at your waste. No tailoring needed. If you wear a belt and lose weigh everything bunches up at waste.

'Short sleeve' and 'dress shirt'.....the ultimate contradiction.

I don't mind the white collar/blue shirt deal, with the right suit and tie it can be very handsome.

Strongly dislike yellow ties--sure sign of a neurotic stockbroker trying to look hip.

Used to not like cufflinks but Boom flipped me on that one.

Would not wear flip flops for the life of me considering the way my feet look now.

Having said that, I don't mind them on other guys.

You can try prying my ballcap off my cold, dead head.

I never wore zories until I moved to Guam for three years.
I was surprised how ubiquitous they had become on the mainland when I moved back in 2000.
I still where them when in super casual mode and around home.

Cufflinks are Ok as long it's a very dressy suit. Guys who wear dress shirts with French cuffs, a pair of jeans and a blazer look, well, silly.

Cannot wait until 2015 when the 90's neon volleyball influence comes back in a big way. SIDEOUT!!

Agreed. Only with a very dressy suit.

Skinny jeans aren't attractive on men or women. and when it comes to men in suits, improper tailoring is one of my pet peeves.

I have maybe 200 ties and two of them are primarily yellow (not solid yellow, though); I doubt there is a color I don't have. Any color is OK--or not OK, if the tone is a bit too bright or the fabric a bit too shiny. There are yellow ties I would wear and yellow ties I would not wear. There are pink ties I would wear and pink ties I would not wear. There are blue ties I would wear and blue ties I would not wear. There are blue ties I would wear but not with that suit. There are blue ties I would wear with that suit but not to a funeral. There are blue ties I would wear to a funeral but not to my funeral.

The one yellow tie is a pretty old Land's End, and they sold reasonably nice ties then. Nowadays, while the LE designs usually remain classic, they have turned the brightness nob just a little too much. Not a whole lot, but just a little bit makes a huge difference. The margin for error is so small that a tie that looks great on the computer screen can really look like shit if you see it in the Land's End part of a Sears store even though the quality of the actual silk isn't significantly worse than a Brooks Brothers. This yellow one is just pale and muted enough.

The other yellow is a Hermes that I bought for a buck at a thrift shop, couldn't resist. I have very conservative taste in ties and the design is maybe just a little complex for me. It would look good on somebody, I'm just not sure I am that person and I have yet to wear it in the year I've had it, but I can't bring myself to ditch the thing because it's unusual, it's a $170 tie and someday I will be in the right mood to wear it and it will either look great or it will make me look like a pseudo-French douchebag, but it will be one day out of my life or, more likely in the case of this tie, a few hours at a restaurant. The tie has to fit with the rest of the clothes and the occasion. If you like ties, some ties are in regular rotation, some get worn as often as you listen to some of the more obscure items in your music collection.
