Never heard that one before. Probably half of my nice shirts have french cuffs and I usually wear them with jeans and a blazer when I dress in that sort of outfit.

Webster, if you can pull the look off, go for it.

In my mind (and Boom's I guess) French cuffs are seen as formal, dressy and slightly stuffy. Blazers and jeans are not.

It's a bit of a contradiction but some can make it work. Styles outside of the conventional require an air of confidence. You have to walk the walk.

I've never seen anyone pull it off. Same goes for jeans with a blazer and a tie. Jeans and blazer, fine. Add the tie and you're over the top -- either lose the tie or upgrade the pants. Same for sneakers with tie. You can tell when people try soooo very hard to look like they don't give a shit.

Where people try way to hard is their airplane outfits.

If you saw me yesterday you might think just that but, really, it was the only clean stuff I had left after a week in California!

Cufflinks are also really solid to wear when you have lost the tie.

I'm wearing a yellow tie now and I'm not wearing it with a banker blue shirt. Call me a stockbroker again and we are going to have problems. ;D

200 ties! Yikes! I think I've owned three or four over the course of my adult life.
