Personally, I'm hoping madras makes a comeback:

Ragu, have you considered the one-button suit?

No, but that's a very good likeness of me.

I can't believe the response this thread has gotten. I am thinking about changing the title to the "running sartorial splendor thread." More foofy men on this board than I would have imagined. ;)

I go 50 to 36 which is why I hate the Thom Browne skinny suit style. He's designing a line for Brooks Brothers now, which makes cringe. The last thing I want is to see Brooks Brothers go trendy.

I love J. Crew stuff, particularly their sweaters.

I'm a J. Crew guy myself. I basically dress like a slob for work, because I have no reason not to. I actually revel in the fact that I could show up in my underwear and a sweatshirt and no one can say a word about it. When I am out around people more socially, a lot of what I own comes from J. Crew stores (but not their bright colored stuff. I am an earth tone sort of person). Just seems to work for me.

Looks like Al is wearing one of those new sleek style suits. Cannot tell if he went with cuffs or not.

  9. Question for the sartorial mavens --

where do you go for casual slacks/khakis that rate above the Dockers/Savane/Kenneth Cole but aren't $200/pair? I liked the look of Tommy Bahama, but silk pants are not my thing.

State-of-the-art khakis are Bills Khakis. Made in USA of heavy cloth to World War II era specifications. They retail for $97.50; I bought two pair half-price on Sierra Trading Post a couple years ago. They can also be found on eBay.

These Orvis khakis are a great deal on Sierra Trading Post. I bought two pair last summer and they are almost as nice as the Bills, although the Bills happen to fit me a little better.

Brooks Brothers makes a decent khaki. They have held up well over heavy use.

If you're looking for casual khakis, these last forever...

Frank's right about Sierra Trading Post having great deals. They do an odd business combining outdoor gear (crampons, ice axes, kayaks), hunting and fishing gear, casual clothes and dress clothes.

Best deal out there for Khaki's is Lands end. They will hem to you inseam Polo also has Khakis but they are a bit more expensive then Land's end .

Frank - how do the Bills' Khaklis hold up from wrinke standpoint?
