Re: Best Imus take I've read

As a black American I am quite sure I have had to put up with as much "shit" as any woman has, if not more. But I don't whine and cry about it, I don't let it define me, I let it slide off my back and I move on. You should try it, you'd probably be a happier person.

I don't have a problem with someone defending their honor or saying something is offensive. I do have a problem that every single time something is deemed offensive by a certain group of bed-wetters and whiners it is turned into a federal issue and there is this psuedo-debate that goes on as long as those who run the networks think it will produce ratings and score points with their politically correct wine and cheese buddies.

And the rest of your rant is so juvenile it barely even is worth a mention, other than to say it basically just proved my point -- thank you.

You desperately want to be taken seriously and viewed as being strong just like men -- yet every time it suits you and many like you, you run and hide behind the "we're the weaker sex and we're victims of the big bad white male" nonsense.

I'll say it again, get over yourself. This isn't about men and women - it is about the need of certain segments of this population to always play the victim when it suits them.

Oz -- Did you hear the reverand from C. Vivian's church -- a guy who happens to be cozy with Sharpton -- talk about the time line of events, his discussions with the coach and how they all unfolded?

If you did hear it and you still don't think this was all orchestrated to get the most pity points and political mileage out of the situation, than I have the deeds to about seven bridges in the Northeastern United States and I'd love to sell them for you cheap. You can't be this naive.

    Maybe Whitlock is the answer:

the answer? Why is it that he can't come up with any other than pointing out obvious things? One of his answers for black problems was for David Stern to move the NBA All Star game from New Orleans. Looking at how poorly researched many of his columns are, I don't think he's equipped either.

He brings nothing to the table other than giving certain folks the opportunity to say we don't talk about those things when we often do.

    Black conservatives are anti-globalization?
Boy, that's a memo that didn't get around.

Why dont you let ppl's reaction to imus's comments "slide off your back and move on" then? You damn sure seem to be doing a lot of whining about other ppl being more offended by Imus's comments than you think they should be. What kind of ass-backwards way of thinking causes you to let racism "roll off your back" and at the same time be intolerant of ppl who speak out against it? You seem to hold more contempt for the ppl who have to endure racism/sexism than you do for the ppl who perpetuate it. Take your own advice and "get over yourself".

Aside from the Rutgers players, none of whom deserved to be in this situation, there is no one to root for in this entire fiasco. Everyone is trying to satisfy their own agenda.

I'd love to let this roll off my back, but I can't because I can't turn on the television, the radio or open the newspaper without reading some talking head's pity-party for the Rutgers chicks or the endless rants about what a bigot Imus is.

And I'm not intolerant of people who speak out against racism. I'm intolerant of misguided, self-important, snake oil salesman trying to divide people by race hustling and needlessly creating victims out of every issue.
