    Sorry. :(

She missed the train strike when she gets back at least. Striking is a national past time here, and I think I told you about our saga one time because of one of the train strikes. This time, they decided to strike on Christmas weekend, creating an absolute shit show, because the high-speed TGV trains are the key to almost everyone's Christmas travel.

I am heading back tomorrow, so my train back to Paris should be OK, although I am always nervous. On top of it, Air France's cabin crews are striking, although it doesn't seem to be affecting flights. The sad part for me is that I am leaving V behind, she is going to stay here (and work from here, meaning noon to midnight to be on U.S. time) until February, because she is worried about her 86-year-old parents who have slowed down a lot. She worked from here for 3 months last year, and it damn near killed her. But she can't bring them to the U.S., so the situation is pretty intractable. Our plan all along has been to split the year between here and NYC, but I was thinking when we were in our 60s. We are 54, and I am still working. Should be an interesting next few years; she needs to be here for them, so we'll make it work. ... some how, some way.

Good luck and best wishes. That's a tough one indeed.

    Questions.

Is the War on Christmas over? Will Trump surrender in that one too?

With Christmas ads airing earlier every year, how do they film them in snow? Particularly car ads with new models. Figure there is a six week lead time, don't now where you find that much snow on open roads in mid-September.

I remember an interview with an actress who starred in a Hallmark Christmas movie. She said they filmed in July. She was sweating like crazy and had to keep drinking water to stay hydrated, thus many pee breaks. They had to wear ski jackets and layers of clothes even though it was 90 degrees.

Our paper does a bi-monthly magazine that always includes a feature on someone's house — its history, architecture, decorating, etc. For the November/December edition we often try to do the story a year in advance because we want to take photos of the house decorated for Christmas, but that edition goes to press in late October before anyone has their decorations put up. Just gotta hope the place doesn't burn down in the meantime.

The Kasey Kasem legend is that "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" was written poolside in Palm Springs.

I walked into the office one late-summer day and saw a Christmas tree up in advertising. Asked one of the ad reps what the story was and she said it was to remind them businesses were making their decisions on how to spend ad money on Christmas then.
