    You tell 'em. No illegal migrant labor being exploited in Clewiston or Belle Glade or anywhere else down in the muck. No sirree Bob. By God they're living the American dream down there.

    So lessee ... the sugar lobby makes it rain and we here in the U.S. wind up spending about a billion or so a year more than we otherwise would have for sugar. Oh, and given the combination of the sugar lobby's machinations AND the corn lobby's plays, we consume a helluva lot more HFCS than we otherwise would have, which the research suggests leads to all sorts of nasty little public health problems (e.g., obesity and diabetes). But the good news is that the right people (e.g., lobbyists and big sugar) rather than the wrong people are walking away with the goodies. I know I'm thrilled.

    Sugar, high-speed rail, Amy Klobuchar ... guys, if we can't focus on what an awful person the Marlins owner is, what do we have left?
