Which means that I first saw Phil Collins a decade before you saw the movie. Sigh. I screwed around and got old.

I have that reaction to half of the people who get RIP threads on this board.

The only thing worse than my batting average in knowing the person in RIP threads is my average in knowing the song when garrow posts alternative lyrics.

I'm a major RT freak so that's how I got turned onto Sonnier. I thought he was like 15 years younger than RT, but as it turned out he was like 3 years older.

This version of "Tear-Stained Letter" was very good, but the best takes are (were) 8-12 minute jams with RT's own big band, including multi instrumentalist accordion/sax player Pete Zorn, also now sadly departed.

"Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)" with the Edwin Hawkins Singers is pure aural ecstacy, and "Look What They've Done To My Song, Ma" is way better than "Brand New Key." RIP to a woman remembered for the wrong reasons.

She should have been the Boomers version of Alanis Morissette.

Melanie was Stevie Nicks before Stevie Nicks.
