So something sort of akin to the Lebron Watch for a 7TH ROUND PICK? Yeah, that oughta go over well with the vets.

Yeah, I tend to doubt it happens. Not many papers still have the resources to do something like that, but the fact that it's even being discussed is pretty amazing. I don't think this would go over as badly as a reality show, but I'm not sure having a "Daily Michael Sam update" in the paper is a good idea either.

Given the size of the Dispatch, they'd probably have decide between having a Blues beat or a Gay Football Player beat.

This is where it's disappointing to see the media fan the flames of the freak show.

Multitasking ... it is a Lee paper, after all.

LOL, and in this case it would likely be something like "Sam stood in street clothes, inactive for the fifth straight week...."

    That's funny, and probably true.

You've got to figure Sam already is down for one of the practice squad spots for the Rams this season. That way the Rams don't have to "cut" him, they don't have to waste a roster spot with him, won't have him hurting them by putting him on the field, and they can hope and pray some other team comes and poaches him from their practice squad.

And if it happens that even on the practice squad that the distraction outweighs the benefit of having him there, most reasonable people won't buy the inevitable "They cut him because he's gay!" storyline.

If that happens, anyone else can sign him. There will be a team that needs the attention and will sign him for jersey sales and headlines if nothing else.

If he's on the practice squad, that mean's he's been cut.

    Doubt it.

There has been a trend recently to pay some of these guys more than the practice-squad minimum. I bet the Rams give Sam that kind of deal if he is on the practice squad. I also think he gets on the 53-man a couple times because of injuries, even if he might not make the 46-man active game-day roster.
