To each his own. Not for me. While happy for Sam's the football player
    "the kiss" repulsed me.

Ya know, neither Boom nor anyone else really has to explain that.

I find Miley Cyrus' onstage acts repulsive. I don't need to explain my thinking to the millions of people who believe she and her act are wonderful.

I love how so many people on talk radio and on various blogs are blaming Michael Sam for making a big deal out of a kiss...last I checked, he has no control over what the WWL and the cable news channels insist on showing us over and over again.

Two people kissing on TV, no matter their gender, is not equivalent to fellating a blow-up doll on stage.

Sam was not aware that he was on camera?

It doesn't matter, because things don't always have to be perfectly "equivalent" (and almost never will be in matters such as this).

Miley's onstage act repulsed me BEFORE the blow-up doll. A lot of things repulse me (rap music, environment at NFL games, etc.) that others find perfectly normal and are part of the mainstream. I'm sure many on this board are repulsed by Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and the things they screech about. It's perfectly fine not to be 100 percent comfortable with every damn thing that comes into contact with our senses.

You lost quite a few people here with those two statements.

Many of the arguments here are B.S. because they are irrelevant compare-and-contrast statements that are silly on their face.

    Sigh. What an asshole.

You don't get to play that as one big joke. Grow the fuck up.

Whether I think its a lifestyle or not is not important. What is important is whether Michael Sam can play professional football. That answer is forthcoming. If he shows he can play on the big stage, the fact that he's gay will become a mere footnote. First and foremost, he's a human being. He's has chosen his lifestyle. Good for him. All I want to know is can he defend against the run and can he reach a quarterback.

Drip, that in no way addressed what was said there.

That's fine. I don't expect everyone to agree. Just allow me the same right to disagree.

The double-standard is this: Say or write something positive about Sam (or homosexuals in general) and you're accepted and people nod. Say or write something negative about Sam (or homosexuals) and you're censored or reprimanded. Thus anyone who dares disagree is sort of bullied into silence.

I'm fully aware (and I suspect most regulars here are too) that I am far, far, far out of touch with mainstream America on the vast majority of issues. Fine. Mainstream America is in the toilet and I don't wish to follow along. The 70s and 80s were much better. So be it.
