Society needs to collectively tell the media and others there don't care; there have been gays in the NFL since it started; that's a fact. Homosexuality has been a part if society for thousands, likely millions of years. Get over it.

    Millions? Seriously ..... MILLIONS?

Unless you're talking about dinosaur gays that's certainly new information to me. Please tell me more about homosexual lifestyle millions of years ago.

Like Donte Stallworth has said, places like Seattle, SF, New Orleans, Green Bay, Denver, NE - players are more concerned about staying on the roster than anything else. As long as a team with a proven GM or coach, it won't be a problem. The people that appear to be in over their heads - or are in over their heads - won't want to take a risk. But then, they'll be gone in a couple of years anyway.

    Kiper on Sam the player:

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2014/story/_/id/10432960/2014-nfl-draft-assessing-michael-sam-draft-stock

Kiper also points out that Elvis Dumervil and Robert Mathis, both similar in size and skill-set to Sam (though Dumervil is a couple of inches shorter), went in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively.

Minnesota. Especially, if he's expected to play on special teams, as most mid-to-late-round picks are.

The Jets have a coach who has no problem placing every spotlight on himself and not his players, so it would not be ideal, but it would not be the worst.

On PTI, TK said it will be a lot easier for Michael Sam next season than it will be for Jonathan Martin. I tend to agree.

Sam came out on his own terms...good for him. Hopefully it will not harm his draft stock and he will get a good shot at making an NFL roster. That being said...

What bothers me the most about situations like this is the media feeling the need to educate the unwashed masses about the situation and making a bigger deal out of this than it should be. I have read three columns comparing him to Jackie Robinson. That is insane. There is no comparison. Robinson broke down a real barrier. This kid, while brave, is not going to face anywhere near the abuse that Robinson faced...some of it from within his own clubhouse. I am willing to wager Sam's teammates will bend over backwards to show support (even if they may not necessarily want to). It will be the kind of support Robinson never had.

Is Sam blazing a trail? Of course. Is he some kind of cultural hero for coming out? Not really. He's gay. Big deal. Let's see how he does as an undersized defensive end first, and worry about his personal stuff later.
