Michael Sam Says He Is Gay; May Become First Publicly Gay Player in N.F.L.

I have a feeling Sam could blow the doors off the combine and there will be a new reason why he's 3-7. "Teams are gathering information" will become "He's slower on film." LOL.

The bullshit train will choo-choo its way through May with this one.

 

Criticism of Mayock is largely without merit.
He's a football geek who studies the shit out of the draft.

 

Or he could be 6-2 when they want 6-5. Amazing how that gets glossed over when it doesn't fit the argument.

IllMil, he didn't become a better prospect in the last three days. He didn't become a worse prospect.

 

It is straight-out discrimination, is what it is.

I think Goodell is really going to lean on someone to fall on the grenade. I could see him brokering a whispered deal with the Steelers that he won't dock them a draft pick for the Tomlin incident but they have to act if Sam is still there by the sixth round.

I feel like at this point we're all starting to just throw shit at the wall, though.

I wish we had both time and comprehensive draft previews, at various points in the cycle, from the last few years.

 

He went from 90 to 160 on one list in the last three days.

 

Then ... that might, just might, be a list you don't want to rely on.

But I know that doesn't help you.

What can I say? They're wrong.

 

We're not talking about a guy who was rated third-to-fifth round in April. We're talking about a guy who seems to have that ranking in February. As others have pointed out, the rankings are still very unsettled at this point. Anything before the combine, at least, should be taken with many grains of salt.

Somebody also raised the idea that some teams may be putting out some disinformation about Sam to try to keep his value down. Here was a guy some teams might have been hoping could slip to the fifth or sixth round, but now he is going to be under heavy scrutiny by the media and every other team in the league. Anybody who has ever participated in any kind of draft process knows the last thing you want is for somebody you like as a sleeper to be put under the microscope for any reason.

 

Do you know how often they update their list?

 

So was Tony Washington who I referenced earlier a victim of discrimination? His
draft status fell from 2nd round to not being drafted. He had NFL rating of 6.6 after
combine which typically is a 2nd rounder.

 

More speculation based on no real information. Just what we needed on this thread.
