While not artfully phrased, just some quick googling shows that Sam's stats were pumped up against bad teams. Eleven and half sacks is great, nine of those sacks came in three games against Arkansas State, Vandy and Florida. When matched against NFL prospects, like A&M's Jake Matthews, he had half a sack.

You can be a great college player and still not be an NFL prospect. It happens all the time, yet some people still act surprised.

I hope he gets drafted, but I think it might be 50-50 right now whether he's drafted or not.

If he winds up with a third-round grade, some team will take him at some point. If he's rated much lower than that, I think it is very possible he won't be taken.

That's all well and good, I don't think anyone is saying he's a sure-fire star, but a week ago he was a lock to be drafted. If it doesn't happen, the league is full of shit.

Ware, Dayne and Salaam were all first-round picks. All the others were drafted except Ward, who'd made it known he was going to play in the NBA unless he was a first-round NFL pick.

Mel Kiper has long said Ware was the one guy he missed most badly on. Had every quality needed to be a great pro QB, but just wasn't for whatever reason.

Can you point to another player who's expected to go anywhere from the 3rd to the last round? Or maybe even undrafted?

Don't kid yourselves. They already knew he was gay. The projections already factored that in.

They're bashing his abilities to give themselves cover.

Didn't the Giants take Dayne in the 1st round?

Oh, my gosh, yes. I bet hundreds of players. It's a total crapshoot at this juncture trying to evaluate guys.

Yep. They've had a head start on the knowledge.

The NFL is made up of so many old-school fake-military types -- never been near an army base but like to think they're working in one at their six- or seven-figure jobs -- who will say they're passing on him to protect the team but who really just carry their own biases.

Sounds like most kids projected to go after the third round.

He'll still get drafted. Second day, middle to late and most likely by a team that runs a 3-4.

A smaller market, or West Coast team is the best guess but I don't know my NFL well enough to say which team.

Dude has more to worry about from the media then a teammate or a GM. The media frenzy will eclipse Tebow.

The past 10 year SEC DPOY's . A pretty good list. Interesting that
Pollack was listed at 6'2" 260. Maybe Sam will be working for ESPN in
    a few years.

We haven't gotten to the NFL Combine yet, so teams likely haven't narrowed down their lists, so it may be understandable that they haven't pegged (no pun intended) him into a draft slot yet.

But, that is a very wide range for a guy who is a known commodity. he's not someone coming out of a small conference. It's not like he hasn't been tested against top flight talent.

To start acting like he might not deserve to even get drafted is a joke.
