Michael Vick thread -- Decision Day?

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by I love puppies!, Aug 14, 2007.

  1. Any guesses at to where Vick plays this season?
My money is on San Fran.

I think the reason Goodell did this is because no one is going to sign him. Al Davis is the only guy who would be crazy enough to do it. I think Vick plays in the UFL.

Let's take the dog stuff off the table for the moment. What is the reason for not signing Vick?

First off, you can't remove it from the table. It's undeniably part of the equation. "Lets take the murder stuff of the table for the moment. What's the reason Hertz shouldn't bring back OJ as an endorser?"

By the time you sign him, training camp is basically starting. He's had no chance to review the playbook in the off-season and he's been out of football for two years. Even if he ran/lifted weights every day in prison, he's not in football shape. Nowhere close to it. So he would be a major project and he would be a controversial one. Now your GM, coach and players are fielding constant questions about him, you have animal rights protesters outside of training camp and are the subject of daily cable TV debates. It's a huge headache for a guy who may not be used for more than 20 plays this season.

    A. He never was as good as some people made him out to be.
    B. He hasn't played in two years

If you believe Goodell did this because he thinks no one will sign Vick...well...you're batshit crazy. That makes as little sense as anything I've heard recently. Really, that's just dumb. There's ZERO chance Vick plays in the UFL. None.

I still think it's stupid to suspend him six more weeks. I understand why some people say he should be able to play right away. I also understand those who say he should be suspended the whole season. But why six? Why not four? Why not eight? Why not two? And why CAN he play in two preseason games, but not regular season? Just makes no sense.

OK then, who signs him? I think Goodell knows Vick is going to end up twisting in the wind, at least for this season.

    Again. That's just ignorant.

I don't have the first damn clue as to who will sign him, but someone will. And probably soon, so they can get him into camp ASAP.

You think there is going to be a line for his services? You think that a 29-year old QB who had accuracy issues on his best days, relied more than athleticism than anything else, who has been out of football and in prison and who is a walking PR nightmare for most teams is a hot commodity? Come on. Lets get real.

There doesn't have to be a long line of people willing to sign him. Just one. That's all. I still think he's better than half the starting QBs in the league.

You think if the self-serving drama queen from down near the Delta of the Mississippi decides he doesn't want to unretire for the 19th time -- the Vikings might want to take a look at Vick?

I mean, seriously, he's out of football for two years and not great but he is fucking Joe Montana compared to the pile of bile that currently makes up the Vikings QB depth chart.

If I ran the Vikings, I'd be going after Vick harder than I'd be going after Favre.
