Besides, bringing Vick in would also shift the media circus focus away from Roethlisberger's current 'issue'.

I think you are way overestimating the actual fallout from signing him.....

1. The protestors would be a story for exactly two days -- the first day Vick showed up for practice and the first game he played in. After that, nobody would give a rat's ass about them and once they realized that TV cameras were no longer focused on them they'd go back to harrassing hunters......

I don't think anyone signs Vick until after training camp is over. Every camp draws a couple of thousand fans every day and you don't need or want those people dealing with PETA protesters and those from the Humane Society. You're just asking for trouble.

I see what you're saying, but it really doesn't make sense to sign him AFTER camp is over. I'm under the impression that training camp is, you know, kind of important to the players, specifically the players new to the team.
