    Covered Tice for years when he was with the Vikings.

    I would say that he won the lottery in 2001 when Denny Green bolted and the Vikings were owned by the cheapest owner in the league at that point, Red McCombs.

    He hired twice, primarily, because Tice came cheap. Really cheap. Plus, coming after Denny Green, they had the same clock management as before but at a fraction of the price.

    Tice was a good guy to cover but clearly outmatched. He still thought he was an offensive line coach and not a head coach.
