A compelling legal argument can be made out of almost anything. Frog eggs are good is a compelling legal argument if a judge says it is. It's not as if there's a picture or text of a compelling legal argument in the dictionary. You may not view as compelling, but, then, it's not really in your hands to decide whether it's compelling, just as it wasn't in my hands to decide whether the rights conferred in Roe. v. Wade were compelling arguments. They were decided to be compelling. And that's pretty much it.

So, at this point, you're calling, what 46 states a land of bigots, and a majority of Californians from the last election cycle. Think about that for a second, and think about whether you've really earned the fairness to say that. Of course, you've earned the right to say; you got that when you born. But I wonder if it's just.

I'm sure Pastor, expert of all things, or someone else, will attempt to tell you that the Bible doesn't specify whether homosexuality is a sin. Or maybe we can debate the divinity of Jesus or God, as to whether they are who they say they are and how dare they judge who an American would like to screw and when. We can argue that.

But, far too often, on this issue, the board has already decided the answer, and is awaiting the idiots to catch up. Now, me, personally, I think gay marriage will be federal law by 2020. But if isn't - if it never is - then you must at least consider some variable beyond hatred.

No civil rights issue has ever “swept” the nation. Even the abolitionists weren’t looking for equal rights. They just wanted to end slavery and a lot of people could argue they weren’t even in the majority in the North. Women’s right to vote? You forget all those Mormon women protesting in DC with signs demanding the nation keep them away from the polls.

So, yeah, hunger and poverty are “more important” but I would like to think that people can perform what is the equivalent of walking and chewing gum at the same time; addressing hunger, poverty and gay marriage.

Of course, neither one is resolved by a dunce with perky breasts asking people to objectify her.

Yes. It isn’t a far stretch to say that there are a lot of bigots. People don’t like change. People don’t like difference. Thirty years ago the majority of states and the majority of people said interracial marriage was wrong. Can anyone honestly argue they were not bigots?

When an argument is presented, it will be considered. Until then, all we’ve seen is “The Bible says so” and “It’s icky.” Neither of these are legitimate reasons for suppressing the ability of adults to engage in a state based contract.

  3. Frankly, most of the opposition to gay marriage is simple bigotry. Some of it is gussied up in Scripture, but that doesn't make it any less bigoted.

CNN Headline News had a bit this morning saying that Miss California is romantically involved with Michael Phelps. At least that's what her grandma's saying.

So does she make him wear a paper bag over his head in bed? I don't think I could get past the teeth.

I'd agree with everything Pastor said. I'll add that the other variable is ignorance.

Phelps prefers to plop down a map of the Fiji Islands.

It's so funny how you suggest this woman is intolerant, and yet you can't present your arguments without resorting to epithets like "bigot" and "dunce."

So she wasn't Winston Churchill on live TV. So she doesn't believe what you believe. Big deal. Not everyone you will meet in your life will think the same way you think. Grow up and accept it.

People who act the way you are acting are far more of a threat to society than Carrie Prejean will ever be.

If you are not in favor of interracial marriage, you are a racist. If you are not in favor of gay marriage, you are a bigot. It really is that simple.

As to the rest… Let’s see, I am not trying to prevent Miss Prejean from getting married while Miss Prejean hopes, prays and espouses that other people shouldn’t be afforded that right.

Man, you are right. I am more threatening.

Up next… how house flies are more threatening than bears!

Such issues are not dichotomous and absolutism, even self-supposing liberal absolutism, is as flawed as equivocation.

So if I'm not in favour of marriage at all, does that mean I'm anti-family?

If I don't like American Idol, am I anti-pop culture?

    If I don't like vegetables, am I anti-nature or anti-agriculture?

If I don't like a particular viewpoint that the president supports, am I anti-American?

Not quite so simple. But keep spinning.

As for Miss Prejean, last I looked she wasn't calling anyone names, but you and those who think like you appear to believe it's okay to do it to her........JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE HER OPINION.

Think about that for just one second. That is, if you can stop your fear-mongering long enough to spare the time.

It's interesting to note that there isn't much liberalism in "liberalism" these days.
