Again, she could have said basically said it's up to the states to decide among themselves to avoid the personal response when interviewing for the Miss America job. There was a way to answer the question without making it personal, without running the risk of offending the judges and the audience.

Since when did beauty pageants become so high and mighty?

It is an objectifying contest of superficiality. Have we all forgotten about the ridicule a younger contestant faced when discussing "maps" and "the Iraq?"

She is in a contest telling people to judge her based on how much she works out at the gym, sticks to her diet, and brushes her teeth. Adding words like "opposite marriage" to prove to everyone she's a dunce only enables more people to judge her accordingly.

Miss USA runner-up Carrie Prejean is set to make headlines with something other than her anti-gay marriage comments. Her grandmother Jeanette Coppolla confirmed to RadarOnline.com exclusively that the beauty queen has been casually dating Olympian Michael Phelps.

I was watching these answers to see if any of the contestants would give an answer like that. In fact, I was wondering if any of the contestants would say "the Iraq" like that one woman did.

No. But I'll tell you what the producers didn't do to Miss Teen South Carolina: They didn't cut to judges snickering and rolling their eyes at her, like they did Perez Hilton.

Those judges also didn't make a video blog decrying her answer as "the worst answer in pageant history."

This from a man who gleefully enjoys making money off the troubles of celebrities.

The question was an absolute hit job, Trump knew what he was doing when he put Hilton on the show, and it worked as Trump had hoped.

    who won it anyway?

How much weight should be given to the title of Miss USA if Perez Hilton is a judge?

He's a scumbag and if he didn't know how to photoshop he'd be turning tricks in West Hollywood.

To be fair, there probably should be a difference in how the pageants treat Miss Teen USA and Miss USA contestants, akin to how we we report differently on preps and colleges or colleges and the pros.

This was not a hit job. Yeah, Hilton's gay and he asked a question about gay marriage. But another contestant was asked about bailouts and the economy. It's not like gay marriage was the only hot topic asked of the contestants. It just so happened that a gay man asked it. Kenan Thompson could have asked that question just as easily.

Wrong. It's a self-evident right granted by our creator. The first admendment says the government may not infringe on it.

Would that be an opposite relationship, then?
