I guess all the white folks in D.C., err .. black folks in Manhattan, err ... white families in Detroit, err ... Christians in Dearborn, err ... black people in Utah, err ... Montana.

    Ah, forget it.

But is that racism? And I'm not trying to start a big-old-pisser of an argument here, but is it racist to want to hang out with people in which you have something in common?

My high school was probably 90-95% white, yet there were groups that always hung out together, simply because they shared something in common. Nerds hung out with nerds, jocks hung out with jocks, hippie chicks hung out with hippie chicks.

Just because you leave work and hang out with your white friends instead of your black co-workers doesn't make you racist. That's just my $.02.

I dare say the per capita # of academies -- schools founded around 1968-70 because parents didn't want their kids going to school with blacks -- is higher in Mississippi than in any other state.

That doesn't mean any of you or I subscribe to the mindset, agree with it, or even send our own kids to these sorts of schools.

And "Evil" already made the same point, a few posts back, that "three bags" just attempted to make.

All of this "fear of a black planet" -- whether it be in L.A., Dearborn, NYC or Lucedale -- derives from the peculiar institution of slavery, which federal lawmakers in this country allowed to go on for about 150 years before Lincoln proclaimed it "banished."
Even after he'd done that, though, we still had federal lawmakers that allowed blatant discrimination, violence and murder to take place for another 100 years before anything concrete was done about it.

so you only can have common interests if you share the same race? is that really what you're sayin', chief?

wow, was that really a reason to break board rules, chief?

and yeah, maybe you should take a lesson or eight in writing if you want to better convey your point, because you sure sounded racist in that post.
