I'm surprised Luis Gonzalez isn't on that list. That year he hit 51 homers, all publicly credited to a small adjustment in his swing....right.

If nothing else comes from this, baseball at least becomes the first pro sport to detail its drug subculture. I'd like to see the NFL do the same.

So if (when) Mark McGwire's name shows on the list, that will also serve as an indictment of JDV.

What a big surprise that will be.

If this or something similar has been posted already, my apologies. I decided not to wade through all the pages.

One thing that immediately stands out is the amount of former Cleveland Indians on that list.

That is quite possibly the funniest post I have ever seen on this site.

Please tell me we're not going to start quoting an unsourced list from the internet.

All of these names will be linked somehow.

It might be a trainer or "strength and conditioning coach" but Mitchell probably has a handful of informants, and from that handful, you will be able to see the branches out in the names listed.

Then these names will name other names and the web will grow.

Athletes are performing better longer, and in events in which performance can be absolutely quantified without ballpark factors, like track, records keep falling by the year. It's folly to assume that athletes can't stay in better shape, longer. That some athletes may be roiding up is clouding that basic fact.

most of the names on this list have been discussed for the last year or two. There are no surprises.

Verducci's toadyish slobbering is an embarassment. He admits in the last graf baseball doesn't test for HGH, but that doesn't stop him from laying the groundwork for his next books. And we wonder why the image of sports as the toy department persists...

Thanks for reminding me that weights and barbells were not invented until 1986.

TRACK?? Where the medals come with free return postage?? Come on, Dooley, you're way smarter than this.

McNamee was already surrounded by suspicion when Verducci wrote that piece and completely ignored the controversy.

if there are no giles on the list, it loses all credibility -- you could see brian giles cycling on the field when he was in pittsburgh
