Good God. Does today HAVE to be about race?

Can we wait and fucking see what happens before assuming racism is a factor?

Big Chee, you have done plenty in the past to put yourself in that box. But if it wasn't about race, what exactly was your point in comparing Clemens and Bonds?

There has been plenty of talk about Clemens for a while, but there was absolutely nothing solid to work on. The difference is Bonds was still a great player in pursuit of major league records when more solid information came to light. Clemens is just about done.

There are plenty of differences between Bonds and Clemens beyond the color of their skin.

Big difference between the two sports. Aside from QBs, running backs and wideouts, the NFl's stars are pretty obscure on a national level. Baseball has an individual moment for every player, a camera closeup in every game, a chance at face and name recognition. Shawne Merriman, while a hell of a d-lineman, is still just a d-lineman.

Baseball has long been held up as our greatest sport. It may not be that way anymore, but the whole "loss of inocence" theme has permeated the Steroids talk.

Again, this won't have the impact of suspensions. But it will drop a bomb on Selig and others who act like everything is just fine in baseball because dudes hit a bunch of homers a few years ago. And since baseball only enacted its 'roids policy a couple of years ago, this is just another step toward at least making an effort at cleaning up the game longterm. And considering the fact that the union resisted any such cleanup for as long as possible, this is a positive step.

Another difference is the public has a perception of football players as being big, huge burly guys. Baseball players don't have that image.

It's also difficult for a nation that spends $200 billion dollars a year on prescription sleep aids, hair restorers and "ED" medications to find its moral footing when it comes to "performance enhancement." To say nothing of the $400 billion it's going to spend this year on X, crank, 8-balls and other party favors.

You guys love to marginalize blacks who speak on race and attach it to everything mentioned.

If you're telling me there aren't obvious contradictions by some who came out with pitchforks and torches on every Bonds allegation and now asking for patience regarding Clemens, then so be it.

No need to bring up my past posts or continue some corny e-beef. It's really pathetic. The players, owners, and MLB officials aren't the only ones exposing themselves here.

So because the football players using steroids can be ignored since they aren't on TV, they should be ignored. Meanwhile, until today, 90% of the players suspended for steroid use in baseball are relief pitchers and minor league scrubs who you wouldn't recognize if you bumped into them rounding the corner of a building. But of course in baseball that suspicion extrapolates to believing that anyone and everyone is on 'roids; in football no one extrapolates.

I get it. Since this great lie about baseball as a metaphor for life, a symbol of America, etc., etc., has been brainwashed into everyone's head, our sudden wising up to the truth is the reason why this is a big story. Dude, baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet was a FREAKING ADVERTISEMENT!!

But it's really not going to have much of an effect on the owners. The ONLY thing that will affect the owners is their revenues drying up. If this affects the bottom line, then you'll see an affect on the owners.

Now, Piotr, why don't you go back to Kitty Pryde's room and see if she'll still kiss you, then turn into steel, pick up Wolverine, and throw him at something -- maybe you'll finally hit your target.

Apparently the 'roids gave him superior arm strength and that was why he kept throwing the ball into the stands. Keith Olbermann's mom should feel at peace today knowing why she was hit in the head with an errant throw.
