    Who actually retires a Red Sox?

    They always turn their back on their top players. No one ever retires a Red Sox. At least this is way they have operated in the past.

    Not that one excuses the other, but didn't Verducci break the Caminiti story in SI? You could argue that that, along with Balco and Canseco, blew this thing wide open ...
