    Interesting emotion from Gammons there.

Am I the only one thinking Gammons' criticism of Larry Bigbie is encroaching dangerously close to "leave our game alone?"

This just in: Larry Bigbie is not the only one to accuse Brian Roberts of using steroids.

Ragu, in an ironic sort of way, tell us something we didn't already know (except the ones who thought it would bag more big names) about this.

Back to Congress and for those who thought the boys in D.C. had better things to do than to poke their nose into this mess, now people think that this was a dog-and-pony show.

This might be a dumb question, but if we didn't want Congress involved and if having Mitchell do this was going to amount to much ado about nothing, who was going to do probe into this? Sherlock Holmes?

Agreed. As with a lot of people here, I'm sure, I'm a lifelong obsessive baseball fan, but allegations of cheating/juicing don't upset me nearly as much as they did 5-10 years ago ..

That might work for a straight-to-DVD enterprise.

Two minutes in and Bud's already thrown out his arm patting himself on the back.

This guy's the biggest fraud in sports.

My response was actually to a bunch of posts saying, "I am disappointed." Apparently some people didn't really think about what as likely to come out of all of this. so I wasn't being ironic or non-ironic. I was just responding to those posts.

Why be disappointed? This was the best you could expect. Anyone who thought about it in advance knew that. The one small benefit will be that the last few holdouts with their heads in the sand might now accept that use has been rampant for a long time. For me, it has always been a ridiculous exercise arguing about it, when even as recently as a year ago, I was having arguments on this board with people telling me I was way overstating the problem and labeling me a witch hunter. This report will at least bring the type of attention that will make people accept that it is entrenched in baseball and that it isn't going to go away -- even if mlb and the union do all the best things they can possibly do to try to prevent use. Now we can have an honest debate about whether the prevalent use is a big deal or not (and there is no right or wrong answer to that one. It's just based on how you feel about it). I hated those debates when they were being muddled with people making ridiculous arguments that it wasn't even prevalent and that I was a witch hunter because I couldn't produce photos of syringes sticking out of skin.

I think he's said "action" about 20 times already.
