I think Schilling's sudden stammering silence on the stand three years ago answers your question, Bucky.

I would love to see a suit by Clemens. It would be fun to see Macnamee's conflicting statements over the years be parsed in court. And fun to see Clemens try to act humble.

    And free F.P. Santangelo!!

Check out page 370 of the pdf. Read thru the Fehr unionspeak.

Here's my question: You have all this chaos based on information provided by the two 'street rats,' Radomski and McNamee, as well as the BALCO information.

Putting BALCO aside......So ALL this drugging and doping was aided and abetted by these two little schnooks? Huh. I don't think so. There are Radomskis and Mcnamees all over baseball, it's the nature of the game.

Where are all the other suppliers who didn't get snagged in this investigation? They're out there. Is anyone still looking?

Three is about right, but Dyepack just deletes those responses and then posts them as his own.

Oh, I think so, too. But look at Frank Thomas -- I haven't heard one word about him today. He's not getting vilified for talking, nobody really gives a rat's ass what he said, and he obviously didn't rat anybody out.

So, Mitchell's report says he asked five active players "who had spoken publicly about the issue" to talk. Four declined; Thomas did not. That's it? He asked five whole players to talk?

Poin, I read Fehr's memo. It says what you'd expect it to say: the union doesn't want players talking. Close up ranks, and wait out the battle. It's a successful strategy for them; loose lips sink ships.

But hell, the least he could have done for $20M is to go down the Topps set checklist and cross off every name you ask. You know 99% aren't going to talk, but maybe you get a dozen that do. I think it's worth a shot.

At least then, you might get more than Giambi and Thomas.

Doc, I've taken a couple of weak stabs at humor on this thread, but that Gratefruit jar--cup?--can?--is just plain funny.

Now that the report's out, I still have trouble taking it seriously. In some cases, the evidence before your eyes is so plain, the rest is windowdressing. But then there's Ryan Franklin, et al. There's a whole story out there, and we'll never know it all. Plenty of good work left to do, plenty of chances to piss off the creamora's and Sportsbruh's with relevant facts.

That's the thing: the report is not something that will or should directly lead to indictments or suspensions. But it keeps the issue front and center, and hopefully will lead to journalists asking more questions. Which of course will lead to more reporting and a racheting up of coverage. And hopefully finding out just who is being accused wrongly, and who is a cheater.

It's like a 409-page, non-cryptic creamora post. If journalists are game, this should only be the beginning.

Re: The Running Mitchell Report Thread (Coming Soon: MVPs and all-stars!)

Junior? I could see Junior's car, but considering his performance this season, maybe not. Now, if you wanted to talk about Mike Waltrip's car, there's no question it was on something at Daytona last February because the team got caught.

    Um ... what?

    Griffey Junior, not Dale Junior?

    Ohhhhhhh ...

    Never mind.

Maybe Roger Clemens and Fernando Vina can juice for the fans at ESPN The Weekend!
