Mitchell Report Thread (Nothing to see here! Drugs are bad. Crisis averted!)

You know, I'd like to know why the Mitchell Report barely even touched on McGwire, the biggest juicer of them all.

Here is another's opinion on the lack of McGwire details in the report

"McGwire was implicated as a steroid recipient by the FBI agent quoted (in the NY Post article) as early as 1989 if I remember correctly. That was low hanging fruit for Mitchell. Instead he doesn't even mention it in the report. The odds are overwhelming McGwire (49 HRs ... as a rookie in 1987) never hit an unjuiced homer out of all 600+ in his career. Instead MLB and Mitchell give some sanitized BS version of McGwire is a mere Andro user. What a joke."

Exactly, and all the other players that did not get snagged. Thats why the list can not be used to judge innocence. There should be no surprises about who did not make it.

I'm a fan of his, too, but come on.

Since he's known for his first person accounts, I think it's only appropriate for him to write about his personal feelings in this mess-- and how it reflects on his career.

He can't pretend that Clemens story did happen.

This from Canseco, so take it with a grain of salt.

    From CNNSI.com:

More than 80 players were named in one capacity or another in the Mitchell Report, but Jose Canseco was certain there would be at least one more name in the document: Alex Rodriguez. Canseco, who was one of the players named by Sen. George Mitchell in the report, told the Fox Business Channel he was surprised not to see A-Rod's name in the report. "All I can say is the Mitchell Report is incomplete," Canseco said. "I could not believe that (Rodriguez's) name was not in the report."

According to John McCain (appearing on Mike and Mike in the Morning), if Mitchell gets sues, MLB will pick up the tab. (Amazingly, during McCain's appearance on the show, there wasn't one reference to the fact that he's running for president aside from a late reference by McCain to a "tough campaign.")

Loved this graf from Wojciechowski's espn.com column:

"The game always moves forward, propelled by some mysterious, unseen force. Baseball romantics will say the game is intrinsically American, part of what and who we are. And maybe there's some truth to that "Field of Dreams" thinking. Maybe we actually need baseball. Or maybe we just don't want to sweep the garage on a July afternoon."

I guess if they mentioned McCain was running for president, they'd had to have had Rudy, Mit and Huckabee on for their opinions as well ...

That's because Canseco refused to believe there are any great players that didn't use steroids. If he had to cheat to be good, everybody else must have cheated, too, right?

One thing I noticed about the list was how many former Expos were on it. And it looked like most of them were in Montreal about the same time.

I hope someone tells him to pull his damn pants up!
Are those his pubes sticking out? Who the hell wants to see that?
