Of course, truly innocent bystanders may also be on the list. David Segui is pretty adamant that Brian Roberts shouldn't have been included. The Sun's story also explains the libel issue pretty clearly. If Segui is right, it seems like the investigators had a pretty low threshold for tossing a players name in the report that purports to be so thorough and high-minded. I'm not convinced baseball got its $20 million (or whatever) worth.

I did notice that four former Marlins catchers were on the list.

    Love that Frank.
You should have heard him on the topic of steroids as Sammy Sosa was comin' up on his HR total.
    So the irony is there.
You would have thought, when Herges and Brower were tag-teaming on some epic bullpen meltdowns that year, when the team of no-names was right in the wild-card race, he might have blamed the "stuff." :D

Scroll on ESPN just said "Andy Pettitte admits using Human Growth Hormone."

Oh, but the report had NO relevance, right? Just disgraced a beloved pitcher for the game's greatest franchise as a cheater.

The moral superiority bullshit on this thread is getting pretty deep. Pettitte said he took HGH to recover from an elbow injury. If that's true, so what? He took a drug to heal. Why should that even BE against the rules?
Rodney Harrison did the same damn thing, served a four game suspension, and is back on the job. Moral breastbeating? There wasn't any. He broke a rule and was punished. Disgraced? Hardly.
Baseball is not church. Get a grip.

So, let's see, McNamee told Mitchell's people that Pettitte asked about HGH after his elbow injury and McNamee injected him to help him recover.
Pettitte says today that he took HGH briefly to help recover from his elbow injury.
Hmmm, sounds like that gives McNamee some credibility. And that does not bode well for Clemens.

Just because some things a guy said are true, doesn't mean all of it is, though I agree that it makes McNamee somewhat more believable.

But a lot of what Jose Canseco said has turned out to be true. Does that mean he is right about Alex Rodriguez, too?

So, OOP, you're telling me Roger Clemens' personal trainer injected Pettitte, but never got steroids/HGH for Clemens, his No. 1 client?

No, baseball is not church. It's a sport, where using extra chemicals to help oneself should not be done. The use of performance-enhancing drugs is not smiled upon in baseball, but it has been outlawed and enforced in football.

Rodney Harrison was suspended; he is a safety who received his just punishment, quickly and summarily, under the rules.

Andy Pettitte was one of the faces of the yankee dynasty. Why should he get a pass because he says "Oh, no . .I only used it TWICE. that's it, twice. And, um. . for an elbow injury!!!!!"

Oh, OK then. That's alright; you used the substance to recover from an injury, so you could help your team win and earn your money. You did this for your individual gain, but your elbow was hurting, so we'll look the other way.

This is NOT OK. Why are so many so eager to dismiss this story, to simply say "Oh, don't be so MORAL!!!!" instead of acting like journalists and seeking out the facts of this story?

It's not about moralism. It's about journalism.

If it's about journalism, then the real story may be how the majority of sports journalist chose not to deal with the entire story for the last 15 years or so. Now it seems that everyone wants to play catch up.

Not at all and you are probably right. My point was exactly what I wrote. Just because some things the guy said are true doesn't mean it is all true.

And I really was curious if people think Rodriguez used. I've heard a lot about Canseco's words coming true and he continues to question Rodriguez.
