Shocking that the Yankee fan supports a system that stacks the deck for his favorite team.

No way in hell the Yankees would keep a player that can help them in the minors for two months to save money and even you know that.

You really need to stop fixating on your delusions about my fantasies.

It's been awhile since the Yankees had a prospect to break in full-time, but big-market teams do it all the time. Everybody does it.

    All the time? More overstatement.

It is just one more way teams that have more money can buy an advantage. Of course, the more common option is to just spend those funds on free agents.

Makes sense. You get an extra year of salary flexibility and give up, in terms of expected wins, what, one, maybe two? And that's the exceptional case.

The entire San Jose City Council just soiled their undies and knows not why.

Obviously, there's the prestige of being associated with the hometown team. But there's other revenue streams as well. Not just the pre- and post-game, but coach and players shows during the week, broadcaster check-ins, front office people, etc. And during the game, just about anything can be sold. I'll use the Giants, since I hear them most. A credit union sponsors the national anthem, a law office the disclaimer, games this year come from "The Hawaiian Airlines broadcast booth," home and away, an optomeetrist office gets the replay challenges, and, it just isn't a pitching change without being reminded, "When it's time for a change, think SpeeDee Oil Change and tuneup ..."

Pete Rose doesn't like players thinking about individual achievements -- in this case Jimmy Rollins looking forward to nine more hits that would give him the franchise record ahead of Mike Schmidt.

Is this the same Pete Rose who put himself in the lineup over younger, better players (Nick Esasky, for one) while in pursuit of Ty Cobb's hits record?

Yeah, but when you have money riding on it, you need to be out there to make the shit happen.
