Yeah, he's still valuable at third base or maybe even first. But not at that salary. I can't imagine he's worth trading for at this point.

Now, CarGo could be intriguing given that it's "only" three years left on his deal. He could be this generation's Fred Lynn --- great hitter when he's healthy, but you just never know how often that's going to be.

I don't know how much of this can be attributed to the reverse Coors Field effect and the big adjustment on the road, but Tulo has never been a particularly great hitter away from Coors and the gap has gotten more pronounced of late.

    CAREER
    Home .323//397/.565 OPS .962
    Road .274/.349/.469 OPS .818

    2014
    Home .417/.497/.748 OPS 1.246
    Road .257/.364/.447 OPS .811

Paying all that money to move a guy from a place with a park factor of 113 to a place with a park factor of 95 does not seem wise.

The Dan Uggla Era begins in San Francisco.

    Mostly because of this:

    Alex Pavlovic @AlexPavlovic · Jul 24
A walking boot, a strained hamstring, a bad back and a .401 OPS. Giants left with no good options at second base:

That first line is the key. It is tough to say how the reverse Coors Field effect has hurt him on the road over the years or how well he will overcome it if he does play for another team. That uncertainty is just one more reason I wouldn't want to trade for him.

Yanks and Jays having one of those games.

Lot of hits. Lot of runs. Headed to top-4.

    Poor Buehrle.

There are a lot of caveats on the contract issue, but Simmons is one of the best shortstops. Stark argued just last year that he's historically good. And then, for whatever it's worth, there's the plantinum glove thing.

Buehrle has won 197 games and won games in 27 stadiums -- except Yankee Stadium.

Was given a 3-0 lead tonight but was gone after 3 innings.

Bottom-3 was interesting. Beltran hits a solo shot to make it 3-2.

McCann and Headley -- by and large power hitters -- follow with doink singles and then up walks Ichiro who hunks one over the fence for his first homer of the year -- and first in 300+ at-bats -- for a 6-4 lead.

That's how the inning ended. Neither team has scored since going top-9.

    And that's how it ends.

Yankees beat Jays in the Bronx for the 17th game in a row.

The Ghost Of Jerome Williams is haunting the A's right now. Boo!

There's a few shortstops who are very good offensively and then there's a group that's decent. He's not in the first group. His .652 ops is about the same as Jeter. He is still very young, but offensively he's taken a step back this year.

Great trivia question on tonight's Braves game ...

Only one major-league player has been a teammate of all 3 players going into the Hall of Fame this weekend (Maddux, Glavine, Thomas) and also played for all 3 managers (Cox, La Russa, Torre).

I went through Baseball Reference for five innings and couldn't figure it out, so I'll give the answer below.
