Cubs call up top power-hitting prospect Javier Baez, just before a series at Colorado:

Baez news first broke when Baez retweeted his brother's congratulatory tweet.

    Sports journalism is completely superfluous.

Baez is easily my favorite prospect in the minors.

He's had the MLB logo tattooed on his neck since before he was even drafted.

When he was in rookie ball, he hit a HR and his trot caused one of the opposing coaches to yell at him to run the bases. He yelled back "I'll do whatever the fuck I want!" and almost caused a bench-clearing brawl.

When he has a big game, he gets home later that night and retweets everyone who said anything good about him on Twitter.

He's got huuuuge swing-and-miss problems to go with insane power, so for all I know he'll hit .175, but I love the attitude.

Pirates lose Andrew McCutchen, likely for at least three weeks, due to an oblique injury.

Before reading the story, I thought it had been from when Kirk Gibson had Randall Delgado throw at him Saturday night.

And if that had been the case ...

The Phillies have put everyone of consequence on waivers. They should all clear Wednesday.

Gibby's act is wearing thin, quelle surprise.

That was my first thought as well.

Between Gibson's antics and Kevin Towers' "I'll trade anyone who's not a grinder" act, that's a Barnum & Bailey-style clown show in Phoenix.
