Potent Bosox lineup produced 6 hits in 19 innings. Garrett Richard had a no-hitter into the seventh, when he gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and back to back errors by Aybar and Kendrick. Angels relievers pitched 12-2/3 innings of three-hit ball.
Pedroia almost won the game for the Sox when he shoved the Ortiz Shift up the Angels ass in the 14th inning. By then Pujols was playing third base. Pedroia singled and the Angels shifted for Ortiz, moving Pujols into the second base position and Kendrick into short right field. Aybar was near second base. Pedroia stole second and kept going to third because there were no Angels anywhere near.
Pedroia scored on a sac fly, but the Angels got a run in the 14th to keep the game going.
Also, Josh Hamilton was 0 for 22 since his homer against the Dodgers on Monday. He doubled in about the 17th inning and joking motioned to retrieve the ball for his memorabilia collection.

They play six times in September (three in Atlanta, three in Washington) and have a common off day on Sept. 4. Plus today could've been a day-night doubleheader.
Only thing I can figure is, the Braves are at the front end of a stretch of 18 days in a row with a game, with seven more at home after this one. The Nats are off on Monday. So maybe they figured they'd wait it out with the late game tonight, the Braves not having to travel afterward, and the Nats with an off day right after. That makes some sense.

Good thing McCann wasn't in Atlanta today to enforce the rules on Harper.

Now in the top of the 18th, Rasmus makes a fine catch on Cabrera with one out and a man on.

That's what I get for having Porcello on my bench today. (I know.)
