Verlander could very easily turn into Johan Santana.

    I agree.
The Tigers are also weak up the middle, even weaker now with Jackson gone.

The players involved, in order of appearance:

    - Mike Moustakas (sucks)
    - Eric Hosmer (injured semi-bust)
    - Wil Myers (traded)
    - Mike Montgomery (traded)
    - John Lamb (Tommy John, still in minors)
    - Christian Colon (sucks)
    - Brett Eibner (still in minors)
    - Sal Perez (awesome)
    - Chris Dwyer (cup of coffee last year, back in Omaha)
    - Danny Duffy (Tommy John, finally in majors and showing good signs)
    - Noel Arguelles (still in minors)

Perez panned out. Duffy looks like he'll pan out. Hosmer sort of did, and they flipped Myers and Montgomery for James Shields. As far as the Greatest Farm System Ever goes, that's really all the contributions it's made. Gordon and the pitching staff have had more to do with the recent success than any of them, with credit also going to Cain and Escobar (acquired in the Greinke deal) and Jarrod Dyson (unheralded part of the system).

These should help soften the blow though.

ESPN's David Schoenfield wrote about the "implosion" of the Tigers today:

It doesn't hurt to be in a long terrible division.
Will be interesting to do one of these for the Cubs.
Look at what the Cardinals did with their 2009 draft.

We can use this article when we look back on the Cubs in a few years: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/chicago-cubs-rebuilding-theo-epstein-javier-baez-kris-bryant-jake-arrieta/.

Her chest looks like one of those airbags stuntmen fall into when they jump off a roof.
