OOP's antiquated way of thinking is on full display when he uses ERA to evaluate a relief pitcher.

Keeping the other team from scoring runs is the primary job of any pitcher. And I'm not using only ERA. I'm saying it is a far better method of evaluation than WHIP. Not only are you wrong, you can't read.

Of course, fart boy the troll didn't understand that part of my post, either. I did not say holds were particularly useful on their own, only that they can be an indicator of how teams use a relief pitcher. I said if you really wanted to do a detailed analysis of Davis vs. Betances, you would have to look at how their teams used them. Holds can be an indicator that the Royals have used Davis more in pressure situations than the Yankees with Betances, but it would take a closer look to be sure.

Also, more multiple-inning appearances can be a sign that the team is relying heavily on a reliever, but it can also be a sign that he is getting some of his work in low pressure situations.

I'm perfectly happy to skip over the soggy oatmeal you fill threads with here.
Maybe you feel like extending me the same courtesy.
I was talking to Cjericho and not you.

Impressive job by Cespedes taking that pitch up under the chin and then taking the next pitch deep to center.

Bullshit. You were responding to my post. Badly, as usual.

Please do us all a favor and keep your trolling off the major running threads and RIP threads.

I have an abiding interest in baseball. I will post here as I please.
I know you feel compelled to barge into any discussion involving mental disease, it being a specialty area for you.

Could be, but in this case definitely not. I know you're a Pirates fan so you probably don't watch too many Yankees games. They've played a ton of 1-run games and just looking at his game log you'll see he's pitched in a lot of them. I didn't check to see the score of all games when he's come in, but the rare times the Yankees lead by more than 3 he usually doesn't come in. Same when they're down big.

Again, you fail in reading comprehension. I did not say don't post. I said don't troll. Starting shit and then lying about it is trolling. You did it on the Robin Williams thread and you are doing it here.

The comparison of Davis and Betances is an interesting one. Unfortunately, you are mucking up the discussion with your ignorant foolishness and personal attacks.

I have to admit I don't watch a ton of Royals games, but just watching I think Betances is more dominant. Numbers wise slight edge can go to Davis, but I think he's definitely had an easier role for KC than Betances for NY.

This is what happens when we assume. I'm not a Pirates fan. I used to be. I've explained that many times. I've seen the Yankees more than the Pirates this year, but as I said, I hadn't taken a close look at how the Yankees use Betances in comparison to how the Royals use Davis.

Are you a Yankees fan? That last post makes it sound like a strong possibility, which may also explain where you are coming from in this discussion. To be fair, I don't know if either of those things are true.

I don't have a dog in this hunt. As I said, it really comes down to how you evaluate a relief pitcher and in my opinion, Davis has been better.

How so? The Royals are in a pennant race, too, and Davis is their top set-up guy.

How are you measuring dominance? Strikeouts? To me, it's all about getting the job done and the job is keeping the other team from scoring.
