Yes, Rick because there's no difference in anyone's ability to play hurt, hustle more, or give everything they have or dog it. Convinces me more when stat guys (the Rudy Stein's of their Little League teams) think otherwise.

Cardinals sweep Pirates, winning today's game with one run in the bottom of the ninth inning. It leaves Pittsburgh five games out of first place, and that's the last time the two teams meet in this regular season.

St. Louis is headed to Milwaukee for a four-game series. If the Cards win three of four, they're going to be hard to catch, but if the Brewers win three of four, all bets are off.

Exciting times in the NL Central.

Mangino apparently skipped Iowa State practice Wednesday to hang out at Dodger Stadium:

You just switched from talking about clutch to hustle. You can't even keep track of what you are talking about, just spouting generic macho cliches.

Rudi Stein knew HBP=OBP before it was cool.

Rudi was no Carlos Gomez on the bases, though.

I still laugh whenever I see Rudy Stein's windup.

@Buster_ESPN: Ryan Braun vs. fastballs of 93+ mph in 1st half: .295. 2nd half vs. 93+ mph, hitting .213. Scouts see him almost helpless vs. fastballs now.

It's almost as if there is something missing, something to keep him feeling strong late in the season during the dog days of summer and early fall. I hate to speculate, though.

Why? There is evidence now. He cheated.

@Haudricourt 4h As I reported earlier this morning, Ryan Braun left the #Brewers to return to Milwaukee to be with wife Larisa for birth of their 1st child.

Those four games will be consecutive losses Nos. 9, 10, 11 and 12 for the Brewers, who will not finish within 10 games of the Cards. The Brewers' collapse will end up rivaling the Cubs' 1969 collapse.
