He had a damn fine season. Finished with 16 wins and 16 walks -- Saberhagen in '94 was the last with more wins than walks -- and set a record for SO/BB ratio with 11.63.

Rumors floating that Dave Stewart will be Arizona's GM.

That they are. Unfortunately, the Halos will just have to sink or swim with them.

If the Twins don't bring him in Sunday to get one out, they don't deserve to have a guy who had the kind of season he gave them.

If I'm the Twins, I'd protect the, ahem, sanctity of "The Game" by not bringing him in out of the bullpen for a meaningless inning...but I would pay him the $500K anyway.

Or that. One's as good as the other.

    LA Times:

The Dodgers won their second consecutive division title Wednesday night, fittingly behind the impressive pitching of Clayton Kershaw, by beating the Giants, 9-1, before a jubilant sellout Dodger Stadium crowd of 53,387.

Kershaw -- greeted by chants of “MVP” all night -- pitched eight innings, holding the Giants to one run on eight hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out 11. He even tripled in the Dodgers’ first run in the fifth inning.

Kershaw now leads all of baseball in wins (21) and earned-run average (1.77), and he leads the NL in strikeouts (239). A third NL Cy Young appears assured, and he might have locked up the MVP award, too, with his performance Wednesday.

And oh by the way, Gold Glove.

His second pitching Triple Crown, though I'd be more impressed by a Triple Crown that included innings instead of wins.

NL strikeout leader will likely be either Strasburg or Cueto, who are tied with 235. Each has one start left.
