They aren't shutting Strasburg down for the postseason, huh? Surprising.

So who wins the A.L. Cy Young? Hernandez and Kluber are virtually indistinguishable to me.

    Felix Hernandez
    14-6, 2.34 ERA, 156 ERA+, 0.94 WHIP, 230.2 IP, 241 K, 46 BB

    Corey Kluber
    17-9, 2.53 ERA, 147 ERA+, 1.10 WHIP, 227.2 IP, 258 K, 49 BB

It's definitely close. I think Felix has been slightly better but I think Kluber would win if these were their final numbers. Mainly because 17 wins looks a lot better than 14 wins and the rates are so close.

You only get one shot in the postseason, I was told.

Anyway, it seems like Felix has been getting pummeled lately a lot. I know the Nats crushed him earlier this month. And he got beat around the other night, too. Not sure about Kluber, but he's been ridiculous this year.

Before King's debacle the other night, his ERA in the previous 4 games was 0.96.

He gave up 5 ER on August 29, but hadn't given up more than 2 ER in the 18 starts before that.

ERA and WHIP should end this discussion.

Hernandez looked like a lock a week ago. I wonder if some voters had already made up their minds and won't change at this point. Kluber has been insanely good in his last four starts, but Hernandez's numbers are still better. Looks like they each have one more start. Tough to say about matchups as teams rest players before the playoffs. The Angels ran their bench out against Hernandez last time, but will they do that again this weekend?

If Hernandez gets lit up again and Kluber has one more dominant start, I could see that swing the race to Kluber. Right now, it would have to be Hernandez.

Speaking of the Diamondbacks, they've lost eight of nine going into their final series of the season against the Cardinals. However, that one win ensured they won't lose 100 (they're 63-96). That means, for the first time since 2007 and only the second time since 2000, there won't be a 100-loss team in the majors.

And if the Angels don't win two of three at Seattle this weekend, there won't be a 100-win team either.
